Theryte
- Ithaka has been providing management services to Theryte since February 2007 to assist the founder commercialise his technology.
- Theryte is an oncology drug discovery company spin-out from the University of Liverpool. Ithaka’s Dr Bill Primrose is part-time CEO of Theryte and has led the development of a new business plan, negotiations of deals with key CRO’s and collaborations with other research organisations.
- Dr Primrose has also obtained further financing for the business from new angel investors and existing investors, totalling £300,000 since the start of the appointment.
Apposite Capital
- In late 2008 Ithaka was appointed by Apposite Capital to deliver an assignment to provide an opinion on aspects of a novel therapeutic platform as an alternative to antibody-based therapeutics.
- Apposite was considering co-investing in a West Coast US biotech company, Anaphore.
- Subsequent to Ithaka’s assignment, Apposite Capital, 5AM Ventures and Versant Ventures led a $25 million investment in Anaphore in January 2009.
De Montfort Biosciences
- In 2003 Ithaka, on behalf of the Lachesis Seed Fund, reviewed the business model and plan proposed by the DeMontfort team for what has become De Montfort Bioscience, undertook market research and attempted to quantify the size of the opportunity; and provided an independent view on the commercial significance of the IP.
- Subsequently in late 2007 and early 2008, Ithaka worked with Prof Chaudhuri to develop the business strategy and to produce the start up business plan. The company is now marketing its recombinant CYP enzymes to the pharmaceutical and life science research communities through distributors.
