Client: Apposite Capital, experienced private equity and venture capital investors dedicated to life sciences and healthcare www.appositecapital.com considering co-investment in a West Coast US biotech company, Anaphore.

Ithaka’s role:

  • Due diligence – to provide an opinion on aspects of a novel therapeutic platform as an alternative to antibody-based therapeutics.

 

Results:

  • Apposite Capital, 5AM Ventures & Versant Ventures led a $25M investment in Anaphore in January 2009.

 

Client: Multinational chemical and biopharmaceutical synthesis and manufacturing organisation. Revenues £1.66B in 2008.

Ithaka’s role:

  • Advice on underlying science and interpretation of IP on an aspect of biopharmaceutical design.

 

Results:

  • development of strategy to address IP issues.

Client: Multinational pharmaceutical company with significant biopharmaceutical interests. Revenues £3.1B in 2008.

Ithaka’s role:

  • Survey of intellectual property in a particular area of biopharmaceutical development.

 

Results:

  • Confidential assignment which informed and supported development of corporate strategy in this area.

Client: Wellcome Trust considering investment in Kymab, a spin-out from the Sanger Institute in Cambridge.

Ithaka’s role:

  • To contribute to the technical due diligence process assessing Kymab’s plans and novel technology for generating antibodies. (The Company is using embryonic stem cell technology to develop its Kymouse™ platform to generate novel antibody-based biopharmaceuticals.)

 

Results:

  • A £20M equity funding round by the Wellcome Trust investment division in Kymab.
